The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest rally in Nahan, which is dissatisfied with a long delay in completing an important bridge in Mandal village of Vikrambag Panchayat. BJP state president and former MLA Dr. Under the leadership of Rajiv Bindal, the performance saw a large number of BJP workers, local residents and development supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Expressing the disappointment of the villagers, Bindal said that despite the approval of the Bridge Project of Rs 18 crore by the BJP government, the work has stopped with only 10 percent of the construction, which has been left incomplete. He alleged that under the current Congress -led government, there has been no progress on the remaining part, which increases public resentment. Protests took place in a demonstration in the office of the Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Nahan.
Dr. Bindal emphasized that during the BJP's tenure, extensive efforts were made to approve and construct the bridge over the Markanda River, which was aimed at providing an important transport link to the villagers. By 2022, about 90 percent of the project was completed. However, under the Congress government, even after two and a half years, the final stage remains untouched, which they described as a clear failure of the government.
The BJP has demanded that the PWD completes the remaining work before the monsoon season, ensuring that the bridge is operational for the villagers. Dr. Bindal warned that if the construction does not start immediately, the BJP will intensify its protests against the Congress government.
Criticizing the ruling party, Dr. Bindal accused the Congress -led state government of being mistrust and indifferent to the challenges faced by the people. He further claimed that ever since the Congress took power, development activities in Himachal Pradesh, especially in Sirmaur and Nahan, have come into a halt.
