In funds crunch time, universities rely on CSR support for infrastructure revamp | Kolkata News

Kolkata: Between acute fund crunchs, they are dependent on universities corporate social responsibility (CSR) Funds of government and private companies to increase their facilities and infrastructure.

Presidency University (PU) Registrar Debjyoti Konar said, “The university has received a lot of CSR funds from some well established government institutions, state and central, banks and private bodies, which have provided large -scale student development and infrastructure expansion.” The PU Chemistry Department received financial support of about Rs 20 lakh from the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) for upgradation of the lab. JU's Electrical Engineering Department also received Rs 18.5 lakh from PGCIL. Siemens contributed one crore software to JU's production engineering department.
West Bengal Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation gave about 30 lakh rupees to upgrade the student computer lab.
