India pledges full support to rebuild Myanmar after devastating quake; Kaladan & Trilateral Highway projects to boost recovery, ET Infra

India said that the infrastructure destroyed by India's major earthquake and reconstruction of cultural sites would be closely connected with Myanmar, who died more than 3,000, said the envoy of India. Myanmar Abhay Thakur's Ambassador told PTI video on Thursday that the prestigious sites such as Mahamuni Pagoda, Divisional Palace, UB Bridge in Mandle in Rakhin state cause significant damage in the Mandle on the Irawadi River, National Museum and State Building in Nicheida.

'Myanmar will seek support and developmental support from India, and we will discuss and assess their needs. But I can certainly say that we will be very closely associated with Myanmar at the phase of rehabilitation and reconstruction, 'The messenger said, India's' Neberhood First' and 'Act East', highlighting the importance of Myanmar under the policies.

“Moving forward, India is committed to support Myanmar not only in the immediate stage but also in the phase of rehabilitation and reconstruction,” Thakur said.

The earthquake has left a mark of destruction, especially in the central regions such as teaks and mandals such as many bridges have collapsed.

Thakur said, “The entire connectivity through the teak area has been affected in all ways.”

He said that India would engage in association with Myanmar to assess the needs and discuss detailed plans, which would ensure a comprehensive approach to the infrastructure and reconstruction of cultural sites.

He said, “We have important and strategically important projects-Kaldan Multi-Modal Transport Transport Project and India-Myanmar-Thailand Triplates Highway Project,” he said.

The Kaladan project, which aims to create a multi-model transit corridor connecting the northeastern states of India to the Sitway port in Myanmar, and the tripartite highway designed to increase the trade link between India, Myanmar and Thailand is moving forward with Indian support.

These initiatives, grants, credit lines and capacity are supported through building, the backbone of a 'very important developmental partnership' between the two countries, the messenger said.

India is intensifying its support beyond immediate rescue and relief efforts, already viewing the distribution of more than 1000 tonnes of support including food, medical and emergency supply.

The ambassador praised Myanmar officials and people for assisting India after the earthquake.

Despite the ongoing internal conflicts in Myanmar, he said that India's efforts have been the same in the areas, townships and political spectrums.

One of the deadliest 7.7 Intrand Earthquake in Myanmar's recent history, killed around 3,000 people on March 28 and displaced thousands of people, paired with the country's struggle with civil disturbance and economic instability.
