Meghalaya Govt Has Started Process to Return Funds to Centre Meant For Land Acquisition for Rail Projects: CM Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister of Conrad. Sangma said today that the state government has started the process of returning the funds to the Center which was originally allocated for land acquisition related to the proposed railway project in Khasi Hills including Bareenhat -Shillong Marg.

The step comes in response to a recent communication from the Center, which initially requests the refund of sanctioned money to get land for railway development in the region.

Confirming the development, the Chief Minister reiterated the state's commitment to discuss the future of rail connectivity in Meghalaya. An all-party committee is in the process of formed to investigate various aspects related to the establishment of railway lines in Bareenhat, Shillong and other parts of the state.

Chief Minister Sangma announced on Friday that the state government has officially formed an all-party committee to investigate the long demand for the establishment of the winter capital. Development follows a commitment on the floor of the assembly, indicating the seriousness of the government in addressing regional aspirations and justified governance.
