Ministry of Ports Urges States for Non-Major Ports Data Submission to Boost Infrastructure Planning, ETInfra

Mumbai: The Ministry of ports, shipping and waterways has renewed a request for maritime states to broadcast data related to non-head-headed ports to include PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan after “slow progress” in this regard.

In May this year, on the basis of a mandate received from the Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of Port, Shipping and Waterway (MOPSW) had earlier asked all the maritime states to write data related to 66 operational ports, which are to upload/updated by MOPSW and National Master Plan portal, which are the Javed National Plan as a national plan.

The Ministry recently wrote to the states in a communication, especially Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Lakshadweep administration said that the progress of data transmission has been ‘slow’ and urged them to take “immediate action” in this regard.

PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is an ambitious initiative, which aims to strengthen the infrastructure of the nation and increase connectivity in various fields, promote economic development and development.

Under the PM Gati Shakti, a National Master Plan portal has been developed by Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Application and Jio-Informatics (BISAG-N), which facilitates real-time data, efficient infrastructure planning and execution in many areas, data-based decisions and promotion of project implementation.
