Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), priced at around ₹ 11,000 crore, which aims to reduce traffic jams in Delhi and its surrounding areas.

Both projects have been developed under the comprehensive plan of the government, which aimed at reducing the capital, making a lot of improvement in connectivity, cutting travel time and reducing traffic in Delhi and its surrounding areas.

These new projects are expected to reduce the time of travel when Sonipat, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh and Gurugram are fully commissioned.

After inaugurating these projects, Modi said, “Dwarka Expressway and UER-II will benefit the people of Delhi-NCR … The government is trying to overcome all the difficulties of the people of Delhi.”

The 10.1 km long Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway has been developed at a cost of about ₹ 5,360 crore. This section will also provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhomi, Delhi Metro Blue Line and Orange Line, upcoming Bijwasan railway station and Dwarka Cluster Bus Depot.

The stretch is divided into two parts: Package I: Shiva Murti intersection from 5.9 km from Bridge Under Bridge (Rab) Dwarka Sector -21, Package II: Rab on the Delhi -Haryan border, Dwaraka Sector -21 to 4.2 km from 4.2 km away.

Modi interacted with the workers while inspecting the Dwarka Expressway. He also organized a roadshow in Mundka-Bakkarwala village Toll Plaza, Delhi.

The 19 km long Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway was first inaugurated by the Prime Minister in March 2024.

Modi inaugurated Alipur at the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) Dichanon Kalan Stretch as well as new links from Bahadurgarh and Sonipat at a cost of about ₹ 5,580 crores.

This will reduce Delhi’s internal and external ring roads and traffic at busy points like Moraba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and NH -09. The new spurs will give direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonepat, improve industrial connectivity, cut the city’s traffic, and speed up the speed of goods in NCR.
