PM Modi to launch ₹3,880 cr development projects in Varanasi, ET Infra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on 11 April, where he will address and inaugurate a public meeting and lay the foundation stone for 44 projects at a price of ₹ 3,880 crore. Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said that inaugurated projects include schemes on rural development, including 130 drinking water projects, 100 new Anganwadi centers, 356 libraries, a polytechnic college in Pindra and a government degree college.

He said that the Prime Minister inaugurated the police lines and police barracks in Ramnagar and a transit hostel on four rural roads.

Focusing on urban development, Modi will inaugurate projects at Shastri Ghat and Samane Ghat, as well as various beautification projects made by Railways and Varanasi Development Authority (VDA).

Projects for which foundation stones will be laid, 25 are priced at 2,250 crores, in which a major focus has been focused on strengthening the city's power infrastructure. This includes construction of 15 new substations, installation of new transformers and construction of 1,500 km of new power lines.

A new 220 KV substation will also come to the Chowkgat, which aims to provide a 24 -hour uninterrupted power supply.

Sharma said that the infrastructure projects related to the airport are also on the agenda, including laying a tunnel for its expansion.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various road widening initiative and school renewal work and two stadiums in Shivpur and UP College along with three new flyovers.

Modi will also address a public meeting at Mehidiganj in Rohania.

Keeping in mind the summer heat and traffic, Modi's incident will be held on ring road, outside the city border, to ensure ease of access to rural population. He said that the event will be held in the morning, the attendees will be allowed to return home before noon.

Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal and ADG Suraksha Raghuveer Lal informed during a pre-prefection at the Cantt Camp office that six SPs, eight additional SPS, 33 COs and about 4,000 personnel of police, PAC and paramilitary forces would be deployed for the security of the Prime Minister.

Including VIP routes, admission at the event site after proper investigation and frisking will be strictly. Temporary parking areas will be built near the event site.

With monitoring via CCTV and drone cameras, roof deployment along the VIP route and surrounding areas will be ensured.

Police personnel have been instructed to avoid using mobile phones at duty points and reporting in full uniform with ID and duty cards. The stringent adherence to the PM's safety protocol has been made mandatory, and ropes will be used to control the crowd.

Officials said the police have also been directed to maintain humble behavior with the attendees.

BJP city president Pradeep Agarhari said that the PM will stay in Varnasi for about two and a half hours.
