PM Modi unveils development projects worth ₹3,880 crore in Varanasi, ET Infra

The Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated on Friday and laid the foundation stone of a group of development projects worth ₹ 3,880 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

To improve connectivity in the region, road projects have been given a special attention. These include Varanasi Ring Road and an important road bridge connecting Sariranath, which is a very important flyover in Bhikharipur and Mandudih crossings within the city and a significant highway underpass road tunnel on NH -31 near Varanasi International Airport.

He also laid the foundation stone of 220 KV transmission substation at Chauchghat, Varanasi, 132 KV Transmission Substation in Gazipur and Varanasi City Power Distribution System worth more than Rs 775 crore.

In addition, under the Smart City Mission, the construction of a new building for the Kasturba Gandhi School in the foundation stone for renovation of 77 primary school buildings was also laid for the renovation of 77 primary school buildings.

Promoting the infrastructure of water, he inaugurated the redevelopment of Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat in the Ganges River, 130 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, price of more than ₹ 345 crore, improvement in six municipal wards of Varanasi, and landscapes and landlords for various sites.

The PM also inaugurated the projects, including a government polytechnic college in Pindra, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Government College in village Barki, 356 rural libraries and 100 Anganwadi centers. To promote sports infrastructure in the city, a synthetic hockey turf with floodlights and a spectator at Uday Pratap College and a mini stadium at Shivpur will be set up.

PM Modi also handed over the Vandana card to senior citizens for the first time in more than 70 years. He also presented geographical signal (GI) certificates for various local goods and products, including taba, painting, thandai and tricolor barfi. In addition, he transferred more than Rs 105 crore to the bonus for milk suppliers of Uttar Pradesh associated with Banas Dairy.
