In a meeting earlier this week, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Yogesh Mhase assured the representatives of the Hinjwadi Industries Association (HIA) that the development of metro stations, new road networks and other civil facilities would be taken on priority.
During the meeting, a major issue exposed in Hinjewadi and the traffic congestion in and around it was deteriorated. Representatives of the IT Association stressed how daily gridlock, especially during peak hours, severely affected employees traffic and overall productivity. Association members said that the absence of skilled public transport and final-mile connectivity has only complicated the problem.
In addition to the traffic crisis, the participants flagged off other long -lasting issues such as insufficient internal roads, irregular parking, massive encroachment and poor monsoon preparations. Despite being one of Pune's most prominent industrial and IT corridors, Hinjewadi has continued to face basic citizen challenges obstructing its development.
For the employees participating in the meeting, Pavanjit Mane, a member of the forum, said that their demands are basic, and it is the government's responsibility to execute the work as soon as possible. “We are requesting the State Minister of Industries to visit the area instead of discussing in closed rooms. They will really have to visit the spot to understand our plight,” he said. He further stated that even after the commencement of the operation of the metro, it will only solve 10–20% traffic snarl in the area. They emphasized the need for internal roads and emphasized the need to connect the roads from Malunj to Hinjewadi. “These are currently in very bad shape. It includes many agencies, and a common man has to run from one office to another to resolve issues. It is difficult to follow with all agencies,” he said. He said that unlike other metro cities, PMRDA needs to focus on the final mile connectivity to reduce traffic congestion.
Responding to concerns, Commissioner Mhase said, “We are taking concrete steps to address the issues raised in the Hinjewadi region. Once the work of Hinjwadi metro station is completed, the remaining classes will be terminated. The new road projects are being planned to improve connectivity within the industrial belt.
The meeting works on the needs of the industrial ecosystem not only to listen to the re -push by PMRDA. According to another regular commuter, for companies working in Hinjwadi- IT and some of the biggest names in manufacturing can bring a very important relief to the promise of better infrastructure.
A member of the association stated that after years of projects and precious promises, the stakeholders of the industry hope that this time, with the active participation of the PMRDA, the development work will eventually translate to the ground from the drawing board.
Earlier this week, a high-level meeting chaired by MHASE, HIA office-bearrs, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) officials, PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinz Pathan and representatives of major companies working in the area brought together. The session saw a clear discussion about the challenges of several infrastructure, which have long been plagued the region – despite repeated appeal by local stakeholders.
