Swaraj Tractors collaborates with Mahindra Susten for 26 MW solar project

Swaraj Tractors, a division of the Mahindra Group, on Wednesday announced cooperation with the Group's Clean-Technical Hand Mahindra Sustain for the 26 MW solar power project in Baghinda district of Punjab. The project marked the entry of Mahindra Sustain into another state, which strengthens its business footprint as a renewable independent power manufacturer (IPP), said the company said.

This ambitious and largest solar power project in the state, which will supply clean energy to four Swaraj tractor manufacturing facilities in Mohali and Dera Bassi, is an important step towards increasing the Swaraj tractor renewable energy shares by 50 percent, the company said.

The project is expected to generate about 60 million KWH renewable energy annually, which contributes to about 54,600 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
“By taking advantage of the expertise of Mahindra Sustain, we are confident to achieve our renewable energy goals and make a significant contribution to the developed energy landscape of Punjab,” said Gaganjot Singh, CEO of Swaraj Division, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited.

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited said, “With this groundbreaking solar project, we are taking a leading step in starting such a large scale green energy in tractor manufacturing in India for the first time.”
